Careerbuilder.com - Excellent search capability. Additional quality information for people of color and women.

JobBank USA - This is one of the best job postings sites on the web.  Once you get to this location, click on Search for Jobs.

The Monster Board - Search more than 50,000 jobs worldwide.

America's Job Bank - Extensive inventory of resumes and job leads.

Nowhiring.com - Let Nowhiring.com Virtual Agent periodically look for jobs that best match your qualifications.

  • TV Jobs - Links to television station URL's...and hopefully job descriptions.
  • The Art Deadlines List - Juried exhibitions/competitions, call for entries/proposals/papers, poetry & other writing contests, jobs, internships, scholarships, residencies, fellowships, casting calls, auditions, tryouts, grants, festivals, funding, financial aid, and other opportunities for artists, art educators, and art students of all ages, in the following areas: animation, architecture, crafts, dance, film/video, installation, music, performance art, photography, sculpture, theater, visual arts, weaving, writing and more.

  • Women at Work - The National Association of Female Executives (NAFE) maintain Women At Work.  It has a great deal of valuable information and advice for working women.  You will also find a number of links to job postings. 
  • Career Path - One of the most famous job sites on the web, Career Path posts over 500,000 jobs each month from over 40 newspapers' classified ads.
  • The Black Collegian Online - Along with providing job listings, the site provides information on internships and the top 100 employers. 
  • Occupational Outlook Handbook - Fully searchable, describes the nature of the work, working conditions, employment statistics, qualification, job outlook, and earnings.
  • Wall Street Journal - The interactive version of the WSJ is great--but full text is only available through online paid subscriptions.
  • The Radio Industry Employment Posting Board - Public forum for posting services, open positions, situations wanted, radio equipment for sale, relocation services, etc.

  • The Film, TV, & Commercial Employment Network - Information for individuals interested in pursuing a career in the entertainment industry.
  • Job Hunt Page - JobHunt offers links to over 200 sites for job postings on a single page. 
  • MedSearch - Provides jobs in the Health Care field
  • National Business Employment Weekly - This is one of my top picks.  This weekly provides many jobs and some very interesting articles.
  • NationJob Network - This site lets you search its job listings by field, location, full or part time work, and salary range.
  • JobsJobsJobs - Formally Coolware Classifieds. JobJobsJobs is a database of jobs submitted locally and taken daily from other sources with a focus on the San Francisco Bay Area.
  • New Boston Systems - Contract computer job listings. 
  • Point - This is a service of Lycos.  Point provides the top 5% of sites as rated by Internet experts and reviews.  You can then link to the site from there.  When you get to the site, choose Top 5%, then click on Business and then select Careers. 
  • SHRM HR Magazine - The online version of the Human Resources magazine.  Click on the Table of Contents and select HR Job Openings. 
  • TopJobs - This is one of my favorite sites for professionals.  The only down side is that the geographic scope of most of the jobs seems to be primarily limited to the Southwest part of the US.  
  • Ventana Career Center - Through this site you can find Fortune 500 jobs and get connected to some headhunters.
  • Catapult - The springboard to career- and job-related sites that career services professionals from around the world have found helpful in working with college students and alumni.
  • FedWorld Federal Jobs - The FedWorld Federal Job Search uses files created by the Office of Personnel Management in Macon, Georgia. The kind folks in Macon create a series of database files using input from hundreds of human resources people around the government. FedWorld downloads source files from the FJOB bulletin board system. FJOB can found at (912)757-3100 or via telnet at fjob.opm.gov.

  • Online Career Center - News and job listings.
  • HRS Federal Job Search - A free job search and E-mail delivery system.
  • The Chronicle of Higher Education - Each week you will find hundreds of new job announcements from the latest issues of The Chronicle, plus other information useful to people pursuing careers in higher education.
  • CareerPath - Large database of jobs, profiles, resumes and resources.
  • AON - The IPL Associations on the Net (AON) is a collection of over 700 Internet sites providing information about a wide variety of professional and trade associations, cultural and art organizations, political parties and advocacy groups, labor unions, academic societies, and research institutions. Abstracts summarizing information about the association and its site are provided.
  • Business Sources on the Internet - This site provides many links to approximately thirty-eight popular business and career sites.
  • The Business Job Finder - The Business Job Finder is designed to help you get started on a satisfying career in the business world. This site contains information on a variety of business career areas, listings of current jobs and a variety of other reference material. Take the time to learn about career options that might be right for you. Make a well-informed choice. The information here is maintained by the Fisher College of Business at the Ohio State University.
  • EDGAR Database - EDGAR gathers, analyzes, and retrieves information submitted by companies and others who filed information with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC).
  • Forbes - "Annual Report on American Industry" - Published annually in the first January issue.  The report covers over 1,100 of the largest public companies in 20 major industry groups.  The report ranks companies against their competitors, companies in similar or related industries, and against all other companies. 
  • Global Trade Outlook [Formerly U.S. Industrial Outlook] - Published annually by the U.S. Department of Commerce.  It covers over 200 industries.  The "Trends and Analysis Section" analyzes each industry. 
  • Hoover's Inc. - This is one of the best!  An absolutely wonderful site for researching company information.  Over 10,000 organizations, searchable by name, ticker symbol, location, industry or sales. Gives a wealth of information. 
  • IBM InfoMarket Service - Contains a lot of detailed information on thousands of companies.  This is a fee for service site.  Unfortunately, it may take you longer to read through all the legalese set out in the user agreement than to find the information you need at another site. 
  • INC. 500 Almanac 1995 - Fully searchable. 
  • Industrial Outlook - Published by the U.S. Government's Department of Labor, The Industrial Outlook "offers you a solid foundation on which to examine various industries and your career options."  Includes global economic outlook. 
  • BEST LDOL CareerNet Reference - The Louisiana Department of Labor has provided a lot of useful research information at this site: Search engines, directories, the Internet Public Library, a congressional bill tracking database, the ERIC, LOUIS, and CARL databases and links to a number of really good sites.
  • Mansfield University Cybrarian - Nicely laid out and easy to navigate, the Cyberian offers a lot of online information including government documents, links to EDGAR, Hoovers, a number of Internet resources and much more.  A very good general research site. 
  • National Yellow Pages - 18 million listings. 
  • NewJournal Archive - You can use this site to locate journals online within your career field. 
  • O-Net - This site is still under construction (at the time of this writing).  However, it is obvious that the consortium of government and private industry career experts putting it together may have quite something indeed when it's complete. 
  • Occupational Outlook Quarterly - You can order reprints and view topics, but at the time of this writing the publication cannot be read online. 
  • BEST Sales Leads USA - A truly wonderful site for conducting company research.  Sponsored by American Business Information you can find at least some information on almost any business in the U.S.  Their business profiles include the "company name, address and phone number, name of the owner or top decision-maker, number of employees, estimated annual sales, credit rating score, and primary and secondary lines of business."  You can order even more detailed information for a $3.00 fee.
  • Scholarly Societies Project - The University of Waterloo created The Scholarly Societies Project to "facilitate access to information about scholarly societies across the world." 
  • Starting Point - Very nicely laid out, Starting Point gives you a number of directories from which to choose.  After you get to the site, click on business, and you can choose from multiple business and career directories. 
  • SunSITE LibWeb - SunSITE maintained by Berkeley Digital Library, is a good source for locating academic, public, and national libraries currently online.  Many of these libraries have their own valuable research resources.  Again, a very good general research site.  
  • The Argus Clearinghouse - This is a resource guide to resource guides.  The Argus Clearinghouse collects hundreds of resource guides from across the Internet and organizes them in a single location in a way that you can quickly find the type of information you seek. 
  • Thomas Register - Describes over 155,000 manufactures, their products and services, locations, company profiles, and trade and brand names.  The site bills itself as " the world's largest online industrial buying source."  The site makes finding product, service or company information fairly easy.
  • DataMasters - 1997 Salary Survey - This is a good source for information about salaries in the computer industry.
  • Pencom Career Center - Pencom gives you an interactive salary guide, and career advice articles. 
  • 4Work - You can search 4Work jobs by state, company and position. 
  • 100Hot - Will give you links to many of the best sites on the web.  For job searching purposes, select Jobs. 
  • C/Net Search - Just as with conducting research, this is great site for locating job postings.  Under Employment, click on Job Search.  C/Net will give you over 30 search engines to use to look for job postings. 
  • Career Magazine Jobline Database - Career Magazine updates this database daily from Usenet newsgroups postings.  You can search by Location, Skill, Title, or by Keyword. 
  • CareerNet - After you get to the home page, click the Jobs Now! Web Sites button.  Also, check out the Career Gems button.  It has links to many useful career web-sites. 
  • Employment Guide - Focusing on professional, technical and managerial jobs, CareerWeb lists thousands of jobs in "engineering, information systems, telecommunications, marketing, accounting, health care and many other fields." 
  • Comforce - Comforce lists high tech jobs in "the growing telecommunications, information technologies, and technical market sectors." 
  • Counsel Connect - To the best of my recollection, the site lists jobs for attorneys under Employment Listings. 
  • E-Span - Like most sites listed here, E-Span lists many jobs.  Click on Job Search.  One very nice feature, under Employer Listings, you will find important information about companies recruiting on E- Span. 
  • Federal Jobs Central - Lists thousands of federal jobs. 
  • InfoSeek - Click on Business, then choose Careers, and finally, select Company Job Offerings.
